Primary LocationUS-IL-Northfield

Medline has an immediate opening for a Director of Product Management in the Excelsior Division, located in the corporate headquarters in Northfield, IL. This individual is responsible for the marketing, product improvement, sales support and financial growth of Excelsior’s current portfolio of pre-filled syringes, and the development and launch of future pipeline products. This individual will also manage a product manager and a marketing specialist, and partner regularly with leadership in specialty sales, manufacturing, inventory management and finance. We are seeking a dynamic, hard-working professional with a solid education and background in Marketing and/or Product Management and a desire to work for a fast-paced, large corporate organization. In addition to a customer-focused mindset, you must have a “roll-up your sleeves” attitude.

The challenging responsibilities of the position include:
  • Develop and mentor direct reports through hands-on on-boarding, open communication, promoting training and development opportunities, and detailed performance management; build and maintain employee morale and motivation; ensure the team is appropriately staffed with required competencies.
  • Grow unit sales volume via organized targeting efforts, including managing a living document tracking conversion opportunities with percent likelihood to close. Engage sales leadership in pushing large opportunities forward.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive marketing plans for existing products to include product strategy, pricing strategy, collateral creation, sales targeting, and brand management.
  • Review monthly financial performance and determine contributing factors. Offer solutions for detrimental sales or margin trends. Prepare rolling forecasts to include sales growth expectations. Analyze sales trends over time and impact of competitive strategies.
  • Support the appropriate management of inventory (reduce surplus and optimize service) via a weekly cross-functional inventory planning meeting with the manufacturing plants.
  • Travel with the sales force to support efforts to convert customers to Excelsior products via pitch meetings, evaluations, and conversion in-services.
  • Provide timely follow up to sales forces by answering product questions via e-mail and phone within 24 hours.
  • Conduct effective market research and translate that research into new products, product improvements, or line extensions by providing leadership to a multi-functional Excelsior team.
  • Develop and deliver training materials for internal stakeholders, sales forces and customers.
  • Gather insights from the field and customers, prioritize that feedback, and work with Excelsior R&D and manufacturing partners to implement changes where possible

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree.
Relevant Work Experience
  • At least 6 years of marketing, sales or product management experience (preferably in the healthcare industry).
  • Experience with manufacturing (preferably in the healthcare industry).
  • At least 2 years of experience managing people, including hiring, developing, motivating and directing people as they work.
Additional
  • Willing to travel up to 20% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Word (for example: inserting headers, page breaks, page numbers and tables and/or adjusting table columns).
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft PowerPoint (for example: applying a theme, formatting character spacing, inserting a picture, changing slide layout and theme colors, adding transitions, customizing slide numbers, changing chart style and/or formatting font).
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: using SUM function, setting borders, setting column width, inserting charts, using text wrap, sorting, setting headers and footers and/or print scaling).
