The Dr. Roy Wilson Learning Centre is an ELP through Grade 9 school of approximately 800 students. We are seeking a temporary grade 7 math and science teacher to work together with our staff of approximately 40 teachers and 15 support staff for the 2019-2020 school year. Our teachers will embody a leadership style that fosters critical thinking and creates an inspirational and creative learning environment. A strong focus on students and their achievement, along with a passion for excellence are traits this teacher will need to demonstrate.
As a teacher at WLC you will be challenged to work in an environment that supports Inquiry, Cooperative Learning and Inclusion. This means you have a strong understanding of cross-curricular planning, an ability to weave critical and creative thinking into the learning environment and to use formative assessment practices to improve student learning. Have an understanding of and exhibit a willingness to engage in the Collaborative Response Model and are able to work with other agencies, site partners and parent groups. Finally, you have a bias towards action, being a collaborative team member and have a strong understanding of data informed instruction and decision making.
As a K-9 school, we will have numerous extra-curricular opportunities for faculty to help build and strengthen our school community. We will also offer CTF (CTS) programming as well as a variety of electives for our middle school students. Please highlight any interests or abilities you have in this area.
