A full-time Teacher is required at Medicine Hat High School to serve as a counsellor. This position is to begin for the 2019-2020 school year. Applicants must provide career and/or vocational counselling services, including the administration of tests and inventories to help students identify their interests, aptitudes and abilities along with presenting information sessions on subjects related to education and career planning and help students improve their study habits. The successful candidate must be able to counsel students who are experiencing personal, social, or behavioural problems. Applicants must also act as a resource for teachers and faculty members involved in helping students. The counsellor will work closely with a variety of other professionals including, administrators, teachers, school psychologists, and social workers. A master's degree or training in educational counselling is an asset.
She/He must be in agreement with the mission, vision, values and goals of the school and the school district.
