The Engineer will provide support in performing thermal analysis, CTE input to structural analyses and create/design the thermal architecture and interface requirements across a wide variety of space flight, space flight commercial and terrestrial programs. The successful candidate for this position will work on projects that will enable the more efficient use of autonomous robotics within the harshest environments deep space, lunar and planetary exploration can impose.
Interested candidate must possess as minimum a Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or Space Engineering with 4+ years of postgraduate experience in the aerospace industry. The successful candidate must have experience in preparing FEM models, mesh generation/optimization, model verification/correlation and integration of reduced thermal models. In addition to the preparation of technical reports, the candidate is expected to participate and contribute to design reviews, unit testing, reduction of test data and perform analysis/verification of test results. A working knowledge of active and passive thermal control systems, surface preparations and control of thermal distortion across interfaces is essential. Although not a must, knowledge of thermal design for avionics structures, PCBs and electronic components is a plus. Candidates must also have a working knowledge of industry tools such as Nx, SolidWorks, FEMAP and Thermal Desktop. Programming skills in MatLab and C++ are also considered a plus. The candidate must have strong verbal and written English communication skills as well as the ability to excel in a team environment.
