Social Media Specialist (Term: 12 months) At MD Financial Management

Location: Toronto, Ontario

Social Media Specialist (Term: 12 months)

What You Will Do:

The Social Media Specialist executes the social media strategy and supports the Marketing team by planning, managing and executing MD’s social media practice to support business results.

Working with an integrated team of marketing professionals, the Social Media Specialist is responsible for providing MD clients and its digital communities with an accessible and engaging online voice. This mandate includes the expansion of MD’s social media reach through the adoption of new channels and digital platforms, allowing MD to further evolve its digital presence through the development of dynamic and engaging social content. This role is responsible for the oversight of all social media strategic project development as well as implementation, tactics, monitoring and reporting in order to drive engagement, increase brand awareness and generate qualified leads.

Key accountabilities:

Strategic project implementation
  • Create and publish compelling content on our Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and Twitter social media channels with the support of the marketing team
  • Proactively seek opportunities to improve and strengthen brand communication through digital storytelling, contests and other digital marketing tactics
  • Manage, monitor, create, and collaborate with internal and external creative teams and execute campaigns across various social platforms
  • Stay up-to-date with current technologies and trends in social media, design tools and applications
  • Develop and execute paid media that support MD objectives through channel optimization
  • Work with Compliance, Legal and other internal stakeholders to develop new procedures and promote contests to ensure adherence to social media best practices within a highly regulated environment
  • Oversee the daily monitoring of social media activity
Social media community management
  • Oversee and manage monthly calendar planning process to maximize engagement with an effective content mix that supports marketing campaigns, key events and other strategic priorities
  • Work with the External Communications team to monitor and respond to emerging communications issues/crises, as required
  • Work with other teams to see how social can be used to promote awareness around their lines of business
  • Track technological, industry and brand best practices on an ongoing basis
  • Attend events as required
What You Need:
  • University, college degree or equivalent experience in a related field
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of online community platforms and best practices
  • Established professional with demonstrated project management experience
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience executing multi-level projects and campaigns
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on social media experience posting, monitoring and reporting in a corporate environment across established social media channels
  • Experience with Hootsuite and/or Sprinklr, Google Analytics and online platforms
  • Experience in the financial industry an asset

  • Dependable, with the ability to multi-task and set priorities to deliver against tight deadlines, unanticipated requests from other areas, and changing priorities; workload will fluctuate and flexibilty will be required to manage work effectively
  • Strategic self-starter with an outstanding ability to think creatively, strategically, and to identify and resolve problems
  • Ability to interpret and action analytics and insights in order to make informed marketing decisions
  • Strong organizational, time management and analytical skills
  • Bilingualism an asset
