Description

Social Media Manager

With close to 50 years of physician-focused experience, MD has one main goal: to help Canadian physicians and their families achieve financial well-being. Our commitment to work/life integration, employee well-being and ongoing learning are key factors that contribute to our overall success.

For the sixth consecutive year, MD Financial Management has been recognized as one of the Achievers 50 Most Engaged Workplaces™ in North America. The annual award, given by Achievers—an industry-leading provider of employee recognition and engagement solutions—commends top employers that display leadership and innovation in engaging their workforces.

What You Will Do:

Reporting to the Social Strategy Lead, the Social Media Manager will be responsible for driving the success of our social selling and employee advocacy programs at MD, as well as planning and executing select social media campaigns.

In this role, you’ll work with advisors and other client-facing staff in our Social Selling program and enable them to leverage social media channels to connect with clients and prospects, build new relationships, and retain valued business. You will also create training programs demonstrating how to be active and engaging on social media without adding regulatory or reputational risk to the organization, and how to leverage software programs to optimize their activity and improve compliance.

In addition, you’ll work hand in hand with our legal and compliance teams to ensure related policies and procedures are both well-known and followed. You will also support the field with content ideas, analytics, and ongoing training & development to maximize this increasingly important channel. Most importantly, you’ll track the ROI of these efforts to demonstrate the necessity and benefits of this initiative.

Another important aspects of your duties will include working with our broader employee base across all levels of seniority to expand our Employee Advocacy program at MD, enabling all of MD’s people to share news, tools, and content that increases our brand awareness and provides helpful, engaging content to their audiences. You’ll build training material, content, and scorecards to help advocates see the benefits of their involvement. You’ll help them leverage software tools to optimize their activity and mitigate risk and provide feedback on their performance.

You will be a key member of the social media team, and broader content and digital marketing team, helping MD reach new prospects, connect more deeply with existing clients, and increase brand awareness in the Canadian marketplace. You will assist with executing social media strategies and coordinating key influencer relationships. This includes managing regular posts and responding to followers, providing project briefs and guidelines, staying abreast of industry trends, and providing copywriting skills.

What You Need:

You possess a university or college degree, preferably in marketing, communications, or business administration.

You have a minimum of 3-5 years professional experience.

You have a proven track record of executing social media strategies and community management of owned social media pages. Launching social selling and employee advocacy programs in a regulated industry would be a definite bonus!

Familiarity with the financial industry, with an understanding of investing, financial planning, savings and retirement issues, considered an asset!

What You Bring:

  • You’re social media savvy, with a strong understanding of major social networks, a history of creating engaging content, and an understanding of the content that gets positive clicks, shares and comments.
  • You have familiarity with social media management/compliance tools such as Hootsuite, Hearsay, Talkwalker, Social Safeguard, Sprinklr or similar, and how to build content and campaigns, onboard new users, and use analytics to identify successes and opportunities.
  • You are confident in presenting learnings, recommendations and trainings to a large audience
  • You have the ability to examine analytics and results and derive actionable insights
  • You possess business acumen and understanding of the financial services industry
  • You have the ability to coordinate with other stakeholders and groups within the organization and build strong relationships
  • You have technical aptitude, with the ability to quickly learn new applications and technologies
  • You have strong written and oral communication and problem-solving skills
  • You have the ability to work in a flex environment with minimal supervision, in teams or individually
  • You have demonstrated project management competencies needed to manage tight project deadlines, competing priorities, and a high pace of change
  • You are a highly motivated, creative individual that takes initiative with a strong attention to detail and a sense of humor.
  • You have the ability to, always be on, to monitor the corporate social media channels out of office hours and the ability to travel when needed.
  • A great attitude, positive energy, and a strong work ethic.

What Success Looks Like:

  • You are passionate about the MD value proposition.
  • You are constantly learning and honing your skills.
  • You feel rewarded and recognized in a way that inspires you to do your best work.
  • You are engaged, enthusiastic and clearly understand how what you do contributes to MD’s overall success.
