Global Client Manager - Toronto, Canada At Maersk

Location: Mississauga, Ontario

Job Description

We are looking for a Global Client Manager to join our North America Sales team. This position will be based in Toronto, Canada.

Key responsibilities

  • Management of client’s strategic initiatives
  • Entry point to customer for all levels of the client organization
  • Special Projects
  • Migration of new integrated clients
  • Sales Supply Chain Management (SCM) Specialist “consultant”
  • Establish / maintain Critical Success Factors
  • Establish / maintain Key Performance Indicators in collaboration with the Program Manager (PM)
  • Drive improvement within the client’s organization
  • Selling additional integrated logistics services including but not limited to:
o Supply Chain Management & Value Added (VAS) services
o Oceanfreight, FCL and LCL
o Airfreight
o Transload / Warehousing
o Customs House Brokerage
  • Monitor profitability
  • Contract renewal negotiations
  • Liaison between Customer and Origin as needed / as escalation point (primarily handled by the PM)
  • Problem solving
  • Sales Systems familiarity
  • Special account handling when needed
  • Handling general enquiries
  • Liaise with Program Management on strategic issues
  • Travel with client when mutually beneficial
  • Resolve large and/or complex issues/problems
  • Manage by influence resources that do not report to this position (e.g., Program Manager; Logistics Specialist; Customer Service teams)
  • It is the aim of management to utilize the GCM to gain synergy between all operating systems, finance and business development groups within Maersk. In addition to gathering resources and coordinating developments within our own company, the GCM must communicate on many levels within the client’s organization, often from front line customer service people up to CEO level.
  • A GCM must be flexible in their work hours and must be able to work from both the Maersk office and remotely (including, at times, our client’s location). GCMs may handle more than one account or be available to act as a sales specialist for the Maersk sales organization.
  • Comply with all Federal, Provincial, and Local legal requirements
  • Maintain technical and professional proficiency
  • Attend classes or educational workshops
  • Review professional publications

We are looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Industry diplomas or certificates (i.e. CIFFA or CITT) would be preferred, but is not required
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in international freight forwarding or supply chain/ logistics, or shipping industries
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills; results and details oriented personality; organizational skills
  • Advanced computer literacy and ability to efficiently operate standard office equipment
  • Good communication (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills are required; ability to work under pressure; team player
  • Ability to work under pressure and provide guidance to staff
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • PC skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Bilingual (French & English) preferred
