Since 1884, Madison has been saving and enhancing the lives of youth by providing programs and services for children living in New York City's most under-resourced communities. We are proud to be entering the Harlem community in the fall of 2018. To the east of Sugar Hill, lies one of the most challenging neighborhoods in New York. The Bradhurst community, once the hallowed home at the Polo Grounds, is home to a high concentration of public and low-income housing, where 35% of the population lives below the federal poverty line and thousands of families and their children struggle against lack of opportunity, underinvestment, and isolation. And that's exactly where-and exactly why-Madison has transformed the site into a new Clubhouse, bringing with it the services and sanctuary that our other Clubhouses offer to members across the city. We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Job Developer.
The Workforce Development Department is seeking to hire a creative, organized, and energetic job/youth developer with a strong dedication to the principles of youth development for our Harlem-based Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP). The candidate must have a youth development focus on leadership and education development for young people from ages 14-24 and their families. The candidate must have clear interpersonal skills in designing and implementing a strategy to identify, recruit work sites that are career focused for a diverse population of youth.
