Position Title: Communications Assistant

Location: Simon Fraser University, Surrey Campus

Employment Term: July 1, 2019 - August 30, 2019

Salary: $17.53/hr

Hours Per Week: 30

Reporting to the Communications Coordinator, the Communications Assistant serves as a key member of the Communications team, and is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of internal and external communications for Kids Brain Health Network (KBHN).

Duties:

• Writing articles and creating content for e-newsletters and social media to KBHN's national membership
• Assist with social media and marketing initiatives for KBHN
• Assisting in writing new content, as well as building and populating new sections of KBHN's website through WordPress
• Providing logistical and administrative support for KBHN's annual research conference and KBHN affiliated events
• Assisting with the gathering of data analytics reports for the KBHN website and social media platforms
• Contribute to new communications strategies for KBHN
• Ability to use tools such as Hootsuite and Adobe Creative Suite an asset

Qualifications:

• Some experience with communications, public relations, social media management, marketing, creative writing, or journalism
• Passion for health and scientific research, particularly for children with disabilities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Between 15 and 30 years of age
• Legally entitled to work in Canada

About Kids Brain Health Network:

One in nine children worldwide has a disability of some kind: millions of people from infancy to adulthood need access to diagnosis and targeted treatment. Families need help giving the best possible treatment to support their loved ones with brain-based conditions, including autism, cerebral palsy, and fetal alcohol spectrum disorder. As a national Network of Centres of Excellence, Kids Brain Health Network (KBHN) is funded by the federal government to make a difference. Drawing on the talents of 300 top researchers and 200 trainees across Canada, we focus our efforts on early identification and effective treatments for children with neurodisabilities, as well as family support.
