Systems Integration Test Engineer (Contract) At General Dynamics Mission Systems Canada

Location: Calgary, Alberta

Job Description

Project/Program Overview

We tackle the toughest security and technology challenges by developing and delivering mission-critical products and systems for Canadian and allied forces worldwide. The hardware, software and systems integration that our engineers deliver on a daily basis ensure our soldiers are never alone, and always aware. From headquarters to vehicles to the individual soldier, your work helps them accomplish their mission, while keeping them safe.

We are currently looking for a System Integration Test Engineer for a contract opportunity working with our Integrated Tactical Network (ITN) Team.In this role you will play an Intermediate level tester role, assisting the ITN SI team with definition and execution of integration activities as part of the ITN task. The successful candidate will participate in and support all integration related activities for the task, by applying engineering knowledge and techniques to write, execute and report on all test activities in an increasingly independent manner.

Responsibilities

The duties of the Intermediate Test Engineer will include, but are not limited to:
  • Review of system and subsystem requirements specifications, interface control documents, design documents and use cases.
  • Development of system integration and verification test procedures, including configuration descriptions and expected outcomes, in accordance with the design documents and company processes.
  • Execute formal and informal test procedures, gather appropriate measures and data. Document all results.
  • Perform investigations to clarify system problem components for further analysis.
  • Write defect and test reports to demonstrate progress, communicate as required.
  • Participate in integrated team activities with system engineering and development engineering teams.
  • Conduct himself/herself professionally at all times, in all meetings and activities, and when included in customer attended events

Qualifications

  • Positive approach to learning and trying new things.
  • Excellent communication abilities (written and verbal).
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience (Bachelor’s degree) or 4 years’ experience (technical diploma) with the Integration and Verification of complex electronic systems comprising both developmental and COTS/MOTS components.
  • Thorough understanding of the product development life cycle and associated processes
  • Knowledge and experience with engineering and SIV&V process, including Agile/EDF.
  • Experience in defining, developing and executing integration tests for complex functionality, and understanding the interdependencies and interactions between subsystems.
  • Experience in the investigation, recommendations, and resolution of complex defects.
  • Awareness of Test Automation principles; possesses applicable skills and can contribute to its implementation
  • Familiarity with radios, voice/data networks, and Internet Protocol (IP).
Experience with the any of the following tools is highly desirable:
  • WireShark.
  • IXIA.
  • iSource.
  • Bugzilla.
  • Code Collaborator/DM Workflow.
  • RTC.
  • DOORS.
  • Enterprise Architect
  • Microsoft Visio and other Office Suite products.
  • Rational ClearCase and ClearQuest.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical/scientific degree. Candidates with diplomas will be considered with adequate additional experience.
Minimum 10 year consecutive residence in Canada – for Canadian Secret Security Clearance
Applicants will be required to obtain/hold a valid and current Canadian security clearance to gain access to the classified spaces, information and equipment in order to perform the work associated with this position.
