Within Plant Engineering in the facilities organization, our group applies engineering concepts for the optimization of equipment, procedures, and departmental budgets to achieve better maintainability, reliability and availability of equipment. We also provide a comprehensive source of information for capital planning and delivery. The focus of this role is on small engineering projects up to the $200k range and involves project management, as well as process engineering of improvements to GMP process equipment used to manufacture biologics.
This position is for a Process Engineer reporting to a Manager in the Process and Project Engineering Group in South San Francisco Production Facilities and Engineering. The candidate will be responsible for Process Engineering and Project Management of both Drug Substance and Drug Product projects for the SSF Production Business Unit.
Primary responsibilities include:
Supporting design, construction, startup, and upgrades to manufacturing equipment
Provide mentorship and direction to partner groups on execution of process engineering design and project management
Provide Process Engineering services such as approval of P&ID changes, IQ, Material of Construction forms and Engineering Changes on a rotating basis
Support development of business process improvements to support efficiency of adjacent work processes
Bachelors degree or higher in Engineering, Science or related discipline with 2 to 5+ years of relevant experience (years of experience will determine the level the candidate to be hired at)
Able to demonstrate capability to innovate and deliver engineering projects
Must have a passion for customer service to the diverse cGMP manufacturing customers in Drug Substance and Drug Product as well as the MSAT, Facilities, and Quality organizations
A good understanding of Process Engineering, Project Management, Engineering Change Control and Validation is highly desired
Knowledge of service partner organizations such as Corporate Engineering (PTEA) and QA is also highly desirable
Must be highly self motivated, have excellent organization and communication skills, be willing and able to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
Must be comfortable with change and be willing to establish and work towards the future vision for the organization
