Project Manager, Property Development At Gateway Casinos Corporate Office, Burnaby

The Position

As a Project Manager, Property Development, your job will involve taking the lead on new construction and renovation projects. You will be a key leader in keeping all the various components together in a very complex department. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders, architects, designers, general contractors, subcontractors and other business partners; take ownership and manage projects to ensure that they are completed on time and to budget; and to ensure that projects are being delivered to the highest quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides accurate and relevant data on project progress and collaborates with the senior management team and external stakeholders to prepare project planning, budgeting and identification of resources required.
  • Plans all project timelines, phases and milestones, using the appropriate software tools and project management methods.
  • Creates and oversees the total project plan to ensure projects are proceeding in accordance with design, budget and schedule.
  • Ensures projects are completed in full compliance with guideline and building codes, Gateway's standards, and meet all health and safety regulations.
  • Manages the tender process, reviews and provides recommendations to the senior management team on all bid summaries.
  • Establishes a project plan/charter for each approved project; establishes and tracks, schedules, budgets, and reports to stakeholders via a formal communication plan.
  • Assists in the selection and management of any required sub-trades for a project and manages internal or external contractors or trades.
  • Reviews and comments on construction related documents such as RFIs, CO's, shop drawings, etc, in collaboration with consultants.
  • Tracks and closely monitors all project costs to ensure completion within budget.
  • Conducts project reviews and debriefs in order to identify areas for improvement; makes recommendations based on findings.
  • Authorizes/approves all project purchase requisitions, change requests, etc. as permitted.

What You’ll Require

  • Technologist or architecture degree or diploma, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5-10 years’ experience with local large scale development and construction projects, working directly for the owners
  • Strong track record of managing commercial project(s) valued at $7M+ with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Restaurant construction experience is asset
  • PMP designation is an asset
  • Expert level project management experience to manage multiple and various types of projects, priorities and deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills and team orientation with flexibility and resilience in dealing with a variety of different personalities
  • Proficiency with email, Word, Excel, Web browsers, MS Project, and Project Management software
  • Smart, intelligent, fun, goal oriented and driven by integrity
