Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Design Engineer is responsible for design of new products and processes related to manufacturing of tube and hose assemblies including. The individual will coordinate with quoting engineering and Technical Director to develop and implement the most cost effective and customer accepted solution. Key Duties include: - New product/process development as requested - Component/ tooling design to support new customer programs - Generate ideas for cost savings and product optimization - Other projects and duties as assigned Scope of Role: This role is part of the Gates NA Hose/Tube Assemblies - Engineering Team, reporting to the Brantford, CANADA Technical Director.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Industrial Engineering Required
1-3 years of specific technical experience
Good written and verbal communication skills
Good computer skills with the ability to adapt and learn new technologies
Microsoft Project and other Microsoft Office products
3D modeling software, AutoCAD, Inventor
Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, PLC, hydraulic and pneumatic concepts
Knowledge and understanding of Quality tools including Process flows, PFMEA, Control Plans, DFMA, Lean Manufacturing concepts, etc.
Basic understanding of machine controls concepts (Allen-Bradley)
Excellent organizational skills
Knowledge of NFPA, OSHA, and PSR
Knowledge of SAE/ISO industry standards
