Job Coach/Employment Specialist At Gatepath

Gatepath places more than 100 adults with disabilities in jobs throughout San Mateo County each year. Our employment services provide individuals and groups with community employment based on their individual skills and experience; employers benefit from a reliable and highly trained workforce for hard-to-fill positions that reflect the diversity of our community.

The Job Coach/Employment Specialist works with people to find well-matched jobs and assists them to become successful at work. The Employment Specialist establishes relationships with community employers to create job opportunities and works with job seekers to provide job preparation training, job placement, on-the-job coaching, on-going support and case management to ensure people reach their employment goals.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Provide on-site and off-site job coaching and training to clients teaching them specific job tasks as well as their work responsibilities and professional behavior.
• Oversee case management, schedule and facilitate participant annual meetings, assist in developing and implementing training programs
• Engage in job development activities: e.g. networking, marketing, and identification of potential placement opportunities touring of companies, identification of business decision makers, building and maintaining business relationships, and securing positions for trainees

Essential qualifications:

• AA/AS or BA/BS in related field including social service, marketing and business (degree in progress will be considered)
• Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities
• Experience working in the private, business sector is desirable
• Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to effectively communicate with participants/job seekers, employers, parents, caregivers, internal team, and external partners
• Computer skills especially, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook
