General Ledger (GL) Accountant At Ellis Island Casino.Brewery.Hotel.Village Pubs.Mt.

Location: Las Vegas, Nevada

Job Description

The General Ledger (GL) Accountant is a self-starter who is responsible for providing the Corporate Controller and the Assisant Controller with assistance on all financial-related tasks. The GL Accountant will have a passion for finding solutions to complex problems.

  • Bachelor?s Degree in Accounting preferred
  • 3+ years? experience working in an environment that involves multiple company entities
  • Excellent 10-key speed accuracy and math skills
  • Gaming industry experience preferred
  • Food & Beverage and hotel industry experience preferred
  • Ability to communicate clearly in both written and verbal correspondence
  • Commitment to detailed financial accounting and reporting
  • Sage Intacct experience preferred, but not required
  • Must be able to work Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and overtime as needed
  • Must be detail oriented, hands on, able to multi task and remain open-minded to changes and new information daily
  • Must be flexible to adjust work schedule as needed to meet business demands including: month end, quarter end and year end deadlines

Essential Accounting Knowledge and Functions

  • Prepare and review financial statements for each of our properties and assist/prepare in the monthly and year-end closing processes
  • Coordinate financial and gaming audits with the Corporate Controller and Assistant Controller
  • Reconcile accounts monthly between General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Payroll and related gaming, hotel & F&B systems, ensures balance sheet accounts are reconciled and documented monthly
  • Ensure bank accounts are reconciled and various revenue audits completed daily
  • Review financial data on a weekly basis and consult with Controller and Assistant Controller about discrepancies
  • Knowledge of gaming, state, local and county taxes

Asset Protection/Gaming Compliance

  • Effectively controls the proper release of propriety information
  • Excels in ensuring that team members recognize the critical importance of protecting ingredients, processes, and trade secrets
  • Ensure Key Control procedures are adhered to always

Pre-Employment Requirements

  • Must be able to pass pre-employment requirements including drug screening and obtain all work cards including Gaming Registration

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to stand and sitting for prolonged periods of time. During the record retention process you will be required to kneel and use hands to handle and lift objects up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance. Dexterity and familiarity with normal office equipment including but not limited to computer keyboards, 10 key, copier, telephone, etc.
