Staff Accountant - Consulting At Elliott Davis

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina

Our Accelerate practice serves customers by partnering with them to drive their businesses forward. We do this in a number of ways- by serving as their fully outsourced accounting department, to high level business consulting and CFO-level services. The Staff Accountant role serves as a critical part of the engagement team preparing financial statements and performing data analysis while driving quality and on time delivery. This practice is fast-growing and we are eager for you to be part of this growth!

Responsibilities:

  • Assist customers and engagement teams with accounting functions including
  • Month end close processes
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • General ledger analysis
  • Coding bank and credit card feed data
  • Chart of account updates
  • Month end reporting
  • Prepare key points for discussions about financial results and metrics
  • Document process analysis and improvement implementation
  • Prepare and tickmark workpapers and supporting schedules including:
    • -Accounts payable and receivable ledgers
    • -Fixed Asset additions, disposals and related depreciation calculations
    • -Posting journal entries in the customer’s accounting system
  • Collaborate with tax, audit and other consulting teams to provide the best service to customers
  • Leverage technology for increased effectiveness and efficiency
  • Work with smart and innovative professionals, who challenge you to grow and be your best self

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • A basic understanding of financial statements and general ledger accounting
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • The ability to:
    • -work quickly and accurately with significant attention to detail
    • -work both independently and collaboratively with a team
    • -learn about our firm’s service offerings to identify areas our customers have needs and how we can support those needs
    • -approach problems from a solution oriented posture
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • The ability to take full ownership of customer deadlines and needs, including working necessary hours to meet customer deadlines
  • Your CPA or CMA certification, or a stated plan to progress towards certification
  • Strong time-management skills

We also love if you have:

  • QuickBooks experience
  • Experience with or interest in working with customers in the healthcare, real estate or not-for-profit space
  • …but these are not required.
