Next Step Junior High Fort Saskatchewan is a grades 7-12 school with 3 teaching staff and 2 support staff. The school is located within Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta.
Next Step is a supportive, alternative junior and senior high school for students who require a non-traditional, individualized program. Located in community-based sites in Sherwood Park, Fort Saskatchewan, and Vegreville, Next Step provides students with:

Commencing as soon as possible until June 28, 2019.
22.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday- 4.5 hours per day) Based on a 10 month school year.
Daily hours of work are 8:30 am to 1:00pm at the Fort Saskatchewan Outreach location only.
Internal and External candidates
Maintain current filing system, which includes confidential student files, field trip forms, accident reports and information for staff etc.
Type confidential counselling reports and assessments as prepared by the school counsellor.
Register new students through PowerSchool
Take minutes at staff meetings, type and distribute to staff
Perform general office duties, file and photocopy
- Responsible for telephone switchboard and direct calls to appropriate departments
- Record and relay telephone messages to staff and students
Secretaries perform a broad range of general office tasks to assist in the positive and efficient operation of the school or department. Their duties are generally under the direct supervision of the Principal/Assistant Principal or Supervisor. The following activities are typical examples of a Secretary I position.
Reception- Receive in-person or phone inquiries from students, parents, staff and the public
Clerical duties- type, file, photocopy and laminate
First Aid- Administer basic First Aid and medication for students requiring medical attention
Other related duties as requested
Education and Experience
High School Diploma
Supplemented by related courses
First Aid Certificate
Minimum 6 months related experience in a school or office environment
Equivalencies will be considered
Demonstrated Skills and Competencies
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Strong prioritization, organization, multitasking, problem solving and time management skills
Strong ability to adapt and manage change with frequent interruptions
Ability to deal with sensitive and discretionary matters and maintain strict confidentiality
Knowledge of office equipment
