Business Development Associate

Position Overview

The Business Development Associate will work closely with the membership sales and marketing team to help promote and sell Municipal World's various content products and services. This will include engaging in research, phone call and email correspondence and follow up, assisting with the implementation of various sales and marketing strategies, as well as data entry.

Solid opportunity for studentinvolved in either marketing or communications programs. The business development department requires the constant development of new materials, strategies, and resources in an increasingly diverse market, involving constant review and innovation around how to implement these strategies. Likewise, communications are a vital role in the position; being given the opportunity to work through a number of different strategies targeting a diverse audience would be valuable experience for someone looking to work in the marketing or communications field professionally.

Length: 9 week assignment, with a definite possibility to become permanent

Rate of pay: 15.00/hour

This individual will have an important role in the sales process, as a key member of the Business Development Team. Essentially, it involves:

The Business Development Associate will be highly focused on finding businesses that are a good fit for our product and scheduling qualified appointments using phone and email. These leads are then passed to our Product Specialists - sales reps on our Business Development Team - for further development of specific advertising plans, pricing, and finalizing contract details.

Daily Activities

The daily activities for this role include:

Building lists - Finding accurate contact information for leads - targeted individuals in targeted industries.

Phone calls and emails to leads - Reach out to leads - 35-50 emails daily, 35-50 dials daily. Responsible for building relationships and qualifying leads based on interest and how well they fit into ideal customer profile.

Use prospecting tools - Use company CRM system to build and maintain accurate lists and monitor lead activity, constantly updating lists as new information becomes available, ensuring clean data.

Responsive to potential opportunities - Respond quickly to incoming prospects.

Job Type: Full-time/Temporary (37.5 hours/week) - 8:00 to 4:00 Mon-Fri (with half-hour lunch break)

Requirements: Good written and verbal communication skills; friendly, outgoing, and collaborative approach; self motivated and displays good judgment; able to work independently to meet objectives and deadlines; displays both knowledge and passion about company/products/services.
