Shuttle Driver At Conestoga Students Inc.

Location: Conestoga College Doon Campus

Time Requirement: 35 hours per week (some evenings and weekends may be required)

Please note: This shuttle operates on the Conestoga College campuses and as such is required on a seasonal basis September - May of each year. The successful candidate and strong performer will have the ability to have contract renewed each year.

Job Description:

The Shuttle Driver is responsible for safely operating the CSI shuttle according to a set daily schedule. He/she must ensure that the vehicle is in good operating condition at all times, pick up and drop off students as per the schedule, maintain order and security on the shuttle and obey all laws, regulations and rules of conduct. The Shuttle Driver must also deal with students in a courteous and respectful manner. This includes receiving complaints about schedules and levels and quality of service. The Shuttle Driver must make note of and report on any such complaints and respond in a courteous and respectful manner. It is critical for the Shuttle Driver to operate the vehicle in a safe manner. Operating in an unsafe manner may result in injury or even the loss of life, which would have tragic consequences for the community as a whole. This position reports directly to the Shuttle Fleet Supervisor.

Shuttle Bus Driver's Job Duties

• Operate the shuttle bus in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation, policies and procedures
• Perform daily safety and maintenance checks
• Perform minor maintenance duties such as changing the oil and filling the fuel tank, etc.
• Clean the bus as scheduled and/or required
• Ensure the bus is safely and securely stored
• Advise the Shuttle Fleet Supervisor of any requirements for maintenance or repairs
• Maintain schedules and maintain order on the shuttle bus during scheduled shuttle times and special activities
• Pick up and deliver students as per a set schedule
• Take and record daily shuttle bus usage counts
• Ensure students are aware of rules and responsibilities as passengers
• Maintain order and discipline on the shuttle bus
• Make note of any behavioural issues or complaints from student users
• Perform all other related duties as assigned

Required skills and experience

• 3+ years' experience operating a shuttle/school bus
• Valid B license
• Preferred Z (air brake) endorsement
• Clean drivers abstract
