Uptime Technical Solutions (www.utspro.com) is seeking to add a contract-based long-term bookkeeper to do about 5-8 hours of bookkeeping work per week. To that end, if you are good with numbers, are very organized, are able to keep track of deadlines, diligently double-check your own work, and would like to start a bookkeeping business, or are in a position to provide us with long-term bookkeeping services, we can teach you. Bookkeeping is not all that complicated - but it must be performed precisely and takes a person that can really apply themselves to ensuring that everything is entered correctly, the numbers balance and reports are filed on time. If this does not sound like fun to you, or you're just looking for a summer gig where you can put your brain AFK, please close this job ad now!
You will learn how to do literally every aspect of bookkeeping. From invoices, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, payroll and then the most funnest of them all - taxes! If you like doing taxes, let me tell ya how exciting this will be!! As a small business in Washington, we have to report to EIGHT different tax agencies, none of which have the same reporting deadlines and all of which have draconian, punitive late charges! The IRS graciously has given businesses free reign to have an error margin of a whole $1 in their reports. The others, EFTPS, ESD, L&I, DOR, DOL, SOS, SAW, etc., are not so generous. Bring your own alphabet soup for lunch!
- You must be "good with numbers" - there is no way around it.
- You must have a good working knowledge of MS Excel - making formulas, troubleshooting calculations and generating reports. This is an absolute must - we cannot spend time teaching you Excel! If you don't know the program, this opportunity not for you!
- Previous experience with Quickbooks software, is highly preferred.
Compensation & Track:
Starting pay while you are learning and require supervision, is $13/h on a 1099. As you are able to demonstrate independent work, the pay rate will rise over time to the $25/h. As we gain confidence with your skills, working from home will become an option.
- Send resume.
- In a cover letter explain why this position interests you and how does it fit your long-term goals. No teplates, please. Try to demonstrate that you actually read the job posting.
