This is a key leadership role within the Community Development Department, Parks, and Recreation & Culture Division. Reporting to the Director of Parks Recreation and Culture, this position is responsible for the development and management of quality customer focused recreational programs and services to the community. The Manager of Recreation and Culture will use their exceptional motivational, team-building and people management skills to provide leadership to the core Program areas, Special Events, while managing daily operations. Having outstanding communication skills and sound judgement, the Manager will build and maintain positive relationships with both internal and external customers and community partners.
Preferably in Recreation and Leisure or related discipline
A strategic thinker and creative facilitator who is adaptable and works with minimal supervision; 5 to 7 years of progressive experience at a management level preferably in a municipal recreation environment; with direct program experience as well as operational and legislative knowledge related to older adults, aquatics, children, youth, day camp and sport programming, festivals and events, arts and culture. The ability to plan and coordinate a variety of resources, activities, and projects in a fast-paced, multi-faceted environment. Demonstrated experience at a management level with preparing/analyzing operating and capital budgets and working collaboratively with community partners. Facility management will be considered an asset.
This position is within Grade 7 of the Non-Union Salary Schedule and has an annual salary range of $100,473 to $122,529. We offer a comprehensive benefit package and are an Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS) employer.
Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm (35 hours per week) with occasional evening and weekend shifts, including scheduled on call duties for the Parks, Recreation and Culture Division.
