Senior Sales Agent - Affordable Housing At City of Calgary

As the dedicated Senior Sales Agent for the Affordable Housing portfolio, you will be responsible for the strategic preparation, marketing, negotiation, and sale of City-owned properties, being mindful of the financial and political risks involved. Primary duties include:

  • Determine property values through developing property histories and profiles, researching land sales and market data, or procuring an external appraiser when required.
  • Conduct thorough due diligence, develop revenue projections, conduct market analysis, recommend and manage property changes, and analyze hazard assessment reports.
  • Create detailed, multi-dimensional and strategic sales and marketing strategies.
  • Assist in the preparation and registration of restrictive covenants, easements, caveats, utility right of ways, and architectural guidelines.
  • Negotiate and sell properties including developing complex terms and conditions of sale and working with the Law Department to prepare the required legal documents.
  • Prepare and present detailed technical reports to Council, Committees, City management, as well as the public and industry representatives.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for the Affordable Housing real estate portfolio, and as the point of contact for real estate related matters for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Represent Real Estate & Development Services at internal and external engagements as required.

Qualifications
  • A degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Planning, Urban Development, Economics, or Law plus a minimum of 5 years of real estate and/or housing experience; OR a Professional Designation such as an Accredited Appraiser Canadian Institute (AACI) or Senior Right of Way Professional (SRWA) plus a minimum of 5 years of experience as listed above.
  • Experience with real estate law, planning, and/or development will be considered an asset.
  • Working knowledge of real estate software and previous experience working in a government real estate setting will be considered assets.
  • You have strong communication, negotiation, and relationship building skills.
  • You have proven analytical and time management skills and the ability to solve complex, unique, and politically sensitive real estate issues.

Compensation: Pay Grade 13 $43.49 -58.18 per hour (2017 Rates)
Days of Work: This position works a 5 day
work week with one day off in a 3 week cycle.
Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
