Report Disclosure Specialist At City of Calgary

Job Description

As a Report Disclosure Specialist, you will act as a liaison between the Calgary Police Service (CPS) and various public, government, and private agencies. You will support the collection and dissemination of information pertaining to criminal and traffic accident reports, in accordance with Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) legislation. Primary duties include:
  • Investigate and respond to law firms, insurance companies, and individual requests, regarding traffic and criminal reports.
  • Critique and redact reports, as necessary; ensure all sensitive material (including statements and officer disclosure concerns) are redacted.
  • Encrypt and email completed reports.
  • Provide customer service via front counter, phone, and email.
  • Liaise with the Traffic Reconstruction Unit, Forensic Crime Scene Unit, Calgary 9-1-1, engineering consulting firms, insurance and law companies, and the public, with regards to obtaining authorization to release documents and complete customer reports.
  • Interpret and analyze documents received for incoming Outside Agency Requests (OAR), and for outgoing internal agency requests. Forward files to the appropriate police section and/or unit for follow-up.
  • Reconcile fee schedule payments, including: processing cash, debit, and credit card payments received at the front counter, and consolidating fees for weekly deposit.

Qualifications
  • A High School diploma or equivalency (e.g., GED).
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant administrative experience involving information dissemination, redacting and encryption is required. At least 1 year of this experience must include providing customer service (in person, by telephone, and through written communication) to a high volume of diverse customers.
  • Applicants must be able to type a minimum of 50 words per minute (WPM).
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Preference will be given to applicants with working experience using Niche records management system, Livelink, and/or Adobe Acrobat DC.
  • Valuable assets include an understanding and/or previous working experience with: the Traffic Safety Act, the Criminal Code, the Alberta Transportation Extranet E-Collision system, and/or FOIP.
  • You demonstrate a high level of customer service, excellent communication skills, and you remain calm and maintain professionalism when dealing with difficult customers.
  • Success in this role requires accuracy, a high attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Compensation: Pay Grade 6 $29.35 - 39.24 per hour (2017 rates)
Days of Work: This position works a 5 day
work week with 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.

Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
