Reliability Engineer At City of Calgary

The Reliability Engineer is a subject matter expert in the reliability, development and implementation of a Reliability-Centred Maintenance (RCM) program to increase vehicle and equipment reliability. This position analyzes vehicle and equipment criticality, establishes risk matrix and uses statistical tools in experimental design, data collection, data analysis and data interpretation. Primary duties include:
  • Integrate current data input sources from multiple inputs including telematics, Fleet's Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and other vehicle and equipment data sources to identify and build profiles for vehicle and equipment classes.
  • Identify and assist in the implementation and integration of new data sources into the program.
  • Create vehicle and equipment operational severity profiles as a function of utilization to identify minimum maintenance requirements and maximize uptime.
  • Identify maintenance and reliability concerns based on data analysis and provide findings to Maintenance Engineers to ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Collaborate with Diagnostic Specialists and Technicians to identify and monitor failure trends and sources of poor data.
  • Communicate issues to Maintenance Engineers for correction.
  • Provide technical support and training sessions on maintenance, inspection and testing of vehicles and equipment used in operations to help facilitate the RCM Program.
Qualifications
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering, and current licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA), or licensure by the first day of work.
  • A minimum of 5 years of P.Eng experience as a Reliability Engineer
  • Experience developing a Reliability Centered Maintenance program will be considered a strong asset
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Experience working in a fleet environment within a municipal, processing, manufacturing plant or mining industry will be considered as asset.
  • Success in this position requires strong project management and time management skills along with an aptitude for getting results while demonstrating good judgement and decision making
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills with a focus on leadership and interpersonal relationship building.
