Inside Sales Engineer, Burnaby, BC Canada At Ballard

Location: Burnaby, British Columbia

Job Description

Ballard’s Commercial team has an opening for an enthusiastic and experienced Inside Sales Engineer. Initially reporting to the Director, Marketing and Business Operations, this role will primarily focus on pre-sales activities, including the management of the leads qualification process and development of technical support material. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to have an impact across organizational functions and processes. The position will offer opportunity to future growth within the commercial organization.

We are seeking a motivated and energetic self-starter who: have demonstrated leadership skills; possess excellent oral and written communication skills, and effective listening skills; enjoy developing creative solutions to tackle challenges; and is a team player ready to support each other.

Responsibilities:

  • Own and optimize the company lead management process from initial inquiry to lead qualification using CRM platforms
  • Work in close alignment with Product Line Management, Sales, and Marketing teams to nurture leads, becoming an expert on the customer personae that drive our different markets forward
  • Provide regular reports on lead generation and qualification
  • Assess market and geography alignment, identify customer requirements, determine whether products can meet needs, and communicate requirements internally
  • Drive customer interaction from initial contact to handover to the Sales team
  • Develop technical material, analysis and product positioning to support commercial proposals
  • Work in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment to support the Commercial team in winning strategic projects
  • Assist the Proposal Manager in developing and implementing plans in response to client requests for proposals
  • Support the Marketing team with technical content for pre-sales support material
  • Provide report and feedback to the Marketing team to improve lead acquisition campaigns


Requirements:

  • 3 - 5 years of work experience, including at least 3 years of inside sales experience, project management and/or within a technical position
  • Post-secondary degree; an Engineering degree or related technical experience is an asset
  • Advanced English writing, editing and proofreading skills; familiarity with technical writing, with an eye towards sales messaging, themes, proposal aesthetics, and content
  • Highly motivated self-starter
  • Ability to work with diverse teams
  • Quick learner with attention to details
  • Experience with CRM (Salesforce.com) systems is preferred
  • Well organized, able to manage multiple tasks concurrently and engage with various stakeholders/reviewers
