Quality Engineer At Bakker Technical Services

Location: Markham, Ontario

Job Description

Quality Engineer [#1742] – Reporting to the Group Senior Engineer, you are someone willing to contribute to a progressive team, bringing demonstrated process and product quality experience. You have a reputation of excellent internal/external customer service skills together with an ability to multi task.

You have superior organizational skills, work well under pressure and can meet deadlines in an efficient manner. You are also someone with demonstrated ability to solve practical problems, make logical decisions and who has a healthy respect for personnel and safety procedures.

As a Quality Engineer, you are someone who will respond to customer inquiries and investigate complaints professionally and can follow-up on customer issues quickly. You are recognized as a self-motivated individual requiring minimal supervision and a consistent team player.

Compensation and Work Schedule

  • Term: Permanent
  • Start date: March 1, 2019
  • Reg. Hrs./Wk.: 37.5
  • Work Schedule: Day shift
  • OT Hrs./Wk.: As required to meet project timelines
  • Compensation: $65-75k/yr., dependent on candidate’s experience
  • Travel: A few times per year
  • Work location/environment: Markham, ON; office area in a manufacturing facility

Qualifications and Education

  • Post-secondary education in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • 5 years' engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience working in an ISO 9001 (or similar) certified facility
  • Experience in proper use of measuring equipment, machine shop tools and equipment a MUST
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Drafsight and SolidWorks preferred

Responsibilities

  • As a Quality Engineer, you will draft and update documentation associated with the company's Quality System to industry standards (e.g. RoHS, REACH, Prop65)
  • Ensure processes and reports are established and maintained per the Quality System
  • Be the initial contact from Engineering/Quality Assurance to respond to customer quality concerns and interface with the company's off-shore engineering teams on corrective actions
  • Administer the Corrective-Action-Request system and respond to customer complaints following proper methodology (e.g. 8D reporting, QS9000)
  • Inspect incoming samples for compliance with drawings and specifications and determine if samples are suitable to ship to customers
  • Determine inspection and inspection requirements for incoming products according to AQL inspection standards and develop appropriate solutions for non-conforming material
  • Design and manufacture test fixtures to respond to quality concerns, and in some cases, develop samples for customer evaluation
  • Provide CAD drawings of test fixtures, products and variations
  • Provide Certificates of Compliance to confirm compliance with industry standards (e.g. RoHS, REACH, Prop65) and provide input on product, testing and qualification programs
  • Perform product testing and document results per Sales/Marketing requests
  • Write engineering, design and plating specifications as well as Quality Assurance/test specifications
  • Develop BoMs, material specifications as well as other engineering and quality documentation

Required Conditions

  • Candidates must complete a background check, pre-employment screening and be eligible to work in Canada
  • Must have excellent written and spoken English
