Mechanical Design Engineer At Bakker Technical Services

Location: Markham, Ontario

Job Description

Mechanical Design Engineer [#1776] – Our client is looking for a strong candidate, reporting to the Senior Group Engineer, who can devise concept designs from customer specifications and input. You have a track record of producing thorough engineering drawings turning those designs into reality at an economical cost and acceptable to the customer. You are also a strong and effective communicator and well-rounded in engineering fundamentals.

You work well in a highly collaborative team environment and move quickly on executing new projects and ideas. You are known as someone who constantly tries out new ideas and learns from them and for effective trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be in the front lines of a development process, assuming a critical role in taking the engineering team and the company to the next level. You have a reputation of working independently or cooperatively with other workers. You also have excellent organizational skills and are detail-oriented, punctual and dependable.

Compensation and Work Schedule

  • Term: Permanent
  • Start date: Immediate
  • Reg. Hrs./Wk.: 37.5
  • Work Schedule: Day shift
  • OT Hrs./Wk.: As required to meet project timelines
  • Compensation: $65-75k/yr., dependent on candidate’s experience
  • Travel: Occasional to the US
  • OT Hrs./Wk.: As required to meet project timelines
  • Work location/environment: Markham, ON; office area in a warehouse facility

Qualifications and Education

  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • 5+ years' experience producing 3D modeling, drawings, variations and calculations from concept to manufacturing detail
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Draftsight, SolidWorks and MS Office
  • Well versed in manufacturing processes such as injection molding and metal stamping
  • Knowledge of general machine shop applications, electrical design and GD&T an asset

Responsibilities

  • As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will produce 3D modeling, drawings and calculations from concept to manufacturing detail
  • Update product drawings and 3D models to meet industry and customer standards (RoHS, PPAP) and for presentation to customers
  • Produce Bills of Material and Product Structures for new products and proof drawings and electrical/electronic specifications developed by others
  • Participate in product testing, prototyping (3D Printing), qualification and corrective action programs
  • Provide engineering specifications, perform tests and document results per Sales/Marketing requests
  • In a back-up capacity, inspect products, confirm compliance to specifications and prepare Corrective Action reports for response to customers

Required Conditions

  • Candidates must complete a background check, criminal record check, pre-employment screening and be eligible to work in Canada
  • Must have excellent written and spoken English
