Project Engineer At Bakker Tailored Staffing

Location: Woodbridge, Ontario

Job Description

Project Engineer [#1798] – Our client is currently looking for a strong candidate, reporting to the Engineering Manager, to manage and launch a variety of customer projects and maintain bills of material and revision changes throughout the life of the projects.

You have very good verbal and written communication skills as well as superior organizational, interpersonal and problem-solving skills. You are known as someone with excellent attendance and also one with a strong desire to learn the business, understand the production process by walking the floor and participating in production meetings.

As a Project Engineer, you can work with minimum direction and be both a team player and team leader. You also have a very high respect and understanding of Customer/Supplier relationships. You have a reputation of ensuring work is carried out in a safe and efficient manner.

Compensation and Work Schedule

  • Term: Permanent
  • Start date: Immediate
  • Reg. Hrs./Wk.: 40
  • Work Schedule: Day shift, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
  • OT Hrs./Wk.: As required to meet project timelines
  • Compensation: Commensurate with experience

  • Work location/environment: Woodbridge, ON; manufacturing environment with an on-site office facility

Qualifications and Education

  • University degree in Engineering
  • Good understanding in Pro-E, AutoCAD and SolidWorks
  • Strong project management experience
  • Good understanding of flat development methods, GD&T, metrology and SPC fundamentals
  • 2 years' experience in an industrial metal fabrication and assembly environment
  • Thorough understanding of Lean manufacturing principles and application
  • Thorough understanding of a Quality System (Record Retention, Document Control, Non-conforming Material, Corrective Action, Preventative Action and internal audits)
  • A good understanding of 5S Methodology

Responsibilities

  • As a Project Engineer, you will manage projects to ensure implementation is carried out in accordance with customer’s objectives
  • Plan and develop procedures for implementation including timelines, concepts, feasibility, design review, tooling/equipment specifications, try-out, prototype, mass production parts, launch and final buy-off
  • Co-ordinate programs per APQP processes and monitor work activity during project implementation
  • Brief customer contacts and upper management of progress to project timelines and of resolution of open issues as well as costs per the program's budget
  • Produce bills-of-material, detail and welding drawings, and GD&T drawings where required
  • Develop sheet-metal parts Flat Layouts for laser-plasma cutting
  • Manage change requests by elaborating ECNs and have them approved, distributed and filed
  • Design jigs, fixtures and templates for new products and create engineering drawings from customer’s sketches
  • Interface with 3rd-party vendors for tooling and product specifications
  • Release First Article parts/PPAP parts prior to production and chase them on shop floor
  • Perform standardized work studies and capacity planning, and implement error-proofing

Required Conditions

  • Candidates must complete a background check, criminal record check, pre-employment screening and be eligible to work in Canada
  • Must have excellent written and spoken English
  • Must be able to work on a computer for long periods of time and be present on the production floor daily
