Electronics Technician - Skaneateles, NY At Baker Hughes

    Role Summary/Purpose
    The Electronics Technician will conduct various electrical, mechanical, and software tests on video
    borescope assemblies, sub-assemblies, and PCBA’s ensuring proper functioning according to
    written specifications. They evaluate, repair, and perform root-cause analysis of product failures.
    Responsible for preforming preventative maintenance (PM) for equipment on the factory floor and
    may be asked to build product test fixtures and equipment for production or R&D engineering
    purposes.

    Essential Responsibilities
    • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements
    • Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project
    • Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures
    • Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments
    • Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues
    • Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
    • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedure
    • Develop & innovate valve & actuator designs to comply with global codes, customer and sales expectations at lowest possible cost
    • Make use of required design tools, such as 3D CAD (SolidWorks), PLM and in-house design calculations
    • Work with Project Management to clearly establish & communicate business goals & customer requirements
  • Read product literature, test manuals, performance specifications, wiring diagrams and
  • schematics to accomplish video subassembly and video card troubleshooting, testing, root cause analysis
  • Employ standard and non-standard test equipment in the assembly and test of video PCBA
  • systems
  • Test and confirm functional performance of camera systems, subassemblies, and parts
  • Support vendors when needed to troubleshoot and repair their customer furnished electronic
  • test equipment
  • Compare test results with specifications, records data, and plots test results graphically as
  • required
  • Lead for electronic Non-Conforming Material returns: Troubleshoot defective units to determine
  • cause of failure. Either replace defective wiring and components, retest unit and return to
  • production, or record defects in the material disposition and complete the steps to facilitate return
  • of product to vendor
  • Confer with engineers, technicians, and production personnel regarding testing procedures
  • and problem resolution
  • Devise test equipment to evaluate performance and operation of nonstandard or customer
  • returned units.
  • Perform monthly preventative maintenance tasks (primary focus electronics) as assigned
  • Provide day to day production line support for subs assembly and probe areas
  • Perform ESD bench audits twice annually for production area
  • Order and maintain supply of critical spare parts
  • Qualifications/Requirements
  • Associate's Degree in Electronic Technology or related electronics discipline from an
  • accredited college or university
  • Minimum 2 years of electrical experience
  • Desired Characteristics
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.) and LabView
  • Proficient in using various test equipment such as signal generators, frequency meters,
  • oscilloscopes, and spectrum analyzers, digital multimeter
  • Strong understanding of AC / DC circuitry
  • Strong understanding of video signal analysis, solid state electronics
  • Familiarity with performing software downloads
  • Demonstrated hands on PCBA troubleshooting
  • Strong communicator, both verbal and written communication - good listener and emotional
