Manager, Product Development At BAI Online

Location: Chicago, Illinois

Job Description

The Manager, Product Development, under the guidance of the Director, Product Development, will lead projects that will bring new products to market and enhance existing product offerings from one of BAI’s major lines of business–BAI Learning & Development, which provides industry-leading professional learning and development programs to financial institutions. This individual will develop detailed project plans and coordinate efforts across the organization to deliver products that add value for our 1,800 financial institution customers and differentiate BAI from competitors.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Director, Product Development to conceptualize, develop, launch and manage new products.
  • Develop and effectively execute project plans, identifying key contributors and involving multiple areas of the business to deliver products on time and within budget.
  • Define project scopes, plans, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with the Director and Managing Director of Product Development.
  • Communicate with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis and effectively share project progress in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Determine and assess the need for additional resources and make the appropriate adjustments if necessary, during project cycle. Where required, negotiate with other department managers for required support from within the company.
  • Maintain professional relationships with third party vendors and subject matter experts critical to product delivery and maintenance.
  • Schedule and track project timelines, milestones and deliverables using appropriate tools.
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
  • Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle.
  • Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise Instructional Design staff and project team members, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
  • Create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements, as well as productivity benchmarks.
  • Maintain best practices and tools for project execution and management.
  • Ensure thorough testing of all products, assuring quality and positive customer experience.
  • Develop a strong knowledge of software as a service (SaaS), financial services/banking, regulatory compliance, organizational training and development.
  • Complete ad hoc projects and initiatives as required.
  • Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Five years of Project Management experience, preferably in an IT or education organization.
  • Management experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity of project planning and tracking tools such as Microsoft Project and Jira.
  • Highly-organized individual experienced with developing detailed project plans and timelines, presenting relevant information to leadership in a concise manner, and effectively leading internal and external contributors to complete projects and maintain products.
  • Ability to manage several projects – likely at varying stages in the product lifecycle – at one time is critical.
  • An intricate understanding of the business, internal stakeholders and customers is not immediately required but will be important.
  • Existing knowledge of financial services, training & development, and online training / SaaS is preferred.
  • Travel to BAI’s St. Louis office, approximately one 2-day trip a year.
