Sales Development Representative / SDR / Inside Sales At Backstop Solutions Group LLC

Backstop offers the leading suite of productivity software to the institutional investment industry. Based in Chicago, we have been able to grow globally while being committed to fostering a collaborative community of unique personalities who love to have fun.

We are seeking a highly motivated and tech savvy Sales Development Rep that thrives in a fast-paced and high-volume environment. In the SDR role you will be the critical first touch point for prospects and will set the tone for the sales process by setting appointments for the Enterprise Sales team. You will prospect target accounts and verticals by using a combination of techniques like- research, personalized cold emails, and cold calls. You will help fill the sales pipeline by connecting with specified personas within targeted accounts. To achieve their monthly goal of qualified leads the SDR will generate demand along with a strategic handoff to an Enterprise Sales team.     Responsibilities:
  • Research targeted personas within Enterprise size Top Accounts
  • Send personalized emails and make outbound calls to targeted prospects
  • Achieve or exceed goal for marketing qualified lead quota in both quantity and quality
  • Proactively learn Backstop Solutions Group products, competitor products, and industry
  • Offer pertinent resources (white papers, e-books, infographics, relevant blog articles) to prospects in an attempt to foster a relationship
  • Maintain strong relationships with sales team through clear communication and follow-up
  • Support various marketing activities to contribute to strategic efforts
  • Leverage the Backstop CRM system and other relevant tools such as LinkedIn and Hubspot to keep track of targeted contacts and manage daily activities



Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2+ years of proven success in sales or marketing, ideally in SaaS or tech
  • Ability to thrive in a metrics-driven sales environment
  • A “hunter” personality with a drive to reach decision makers is essential
  • Highly coachable and eager to learn and grow in your career
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Self-starter with a high degree of accountability and work ethic
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build rapport with potential clients and internal team
  • Willingness and ability to work under pressure
  • Proficient or willingness to become savvy with techniques and tools involved with contacting customers
  • Ability to adjust to a rapidly changing work environment
  • Maintain a positive attitude and is a team player
  • Knowledge of the alternative investment industry and/ or investment analytical tools is ideal but not required
  • Background in finance is ideal but not required
  • Experience with prospecting tools (LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Hubspot), and research of buying groups and target personas within target companies
