Regular FT Employment Specialist At BACI

Location: Burnaby, British Columbia

Job Description

At BACI, Employment Specialists support people seeking social and economic inclusion in the community through their participation in supported and customized employment. The position works very closely with the individual to provide assessment, planning and implementation of support in order to build personal capacity to engage in paid work. The position provides assessment through person centred approaches, leading to job development, coaching and maintenance. Employment Specialists work closely with the person, their network and the business community to create the conditions for sustainable employment. This position requires use of personal vehicle.

Salary: Step 1 - $24.25, Step 2 - $25.40, Step 3 - $26.83, Step 4 - $28.23
Hours: 37.5 hours per week - Flexible Schedule

Education and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Social Services, Career/Employment Counseling, Sales/Marketing, Business or 3-5 years’ experience working in the employment field, augmented with formal training in the areas of supported and customized employment. Further training in behavioural and communication support, and person-centered planning preferred. Valid CPR, First Aid, NVCI certification. Valid class 5 BC Driver’s license and vehicle that can be used for work are required.

Knowledge and Skills:
Skilled at liaising with the Business community in order to source out competitive job opportunities, identify job carving and create job trials and placements. The ability to conduct the process of discovery through assessment and investigation of the needs and preferences of people seeking employment. Must be able to conduct task-analysis, identify, and adapt to different learning styles. Will be required to work collaboratively with the business community, coworkers, families, consultants and other professionals. A sound knowledge of the principles of person centered planning and positive behavioral/ communications supports are essential. Good organizational skills, including time management skills are required. Ability to manage a caseload, mentor, coach & evaluate performance of multiple job seekers, as well as associated administrative duties such as supporting people with scheduling, budgeting, developing plans and other required documentation Good written and verbal communication skills and computer skills are necessary. Good understanding of Human Resources practices and Employment Standards
