Trade/Customer Marketing Manager At Bacardi

Location: Calgary, Alberta

Job Description

This role has the main responsibility for integrating, developing and executing Customer Marketing & Brand execution initiatives across total portfolio within Alberta, Sakatchewan and Manitoba. It is responsible for executing all brand activities primarily across the Retail channel; and requires effective project management to collaborate with: Marketing, Sales, Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits (SGWS). The role is located in Calgary, Alberta Canada.
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada as per Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC) guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Responsibility to support planning and activation of National marketing programs for entire Bacardi Canada portfolio of brands across key customers in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
  • Working in direct collaboration with Key Account sales managers primarily focused on Retail Liquor store chains such as Liquor Depot, Sobeys, RCLS, SLGA, MBLL and others.
  • Customize and adapt strategies & programs into key Customer thematics/programs, and leverage shopper/brand insights for effectiveness.
  • Strategic leader to champion brand strategy through sales team while supporting commercial opportunities.
  • Manages tactical planning and activation for designated brands.
  • Regular Customer interaction to present quarterly programming in partnership with Key account Manager.
  • Regular interface with Distributor (Bacardí Operations Manager) who is responsible for ensuring support and executional excellence of field sales team.
  • Responsible for innovation commercialization including customer submissions and sell-in.
  • Adapt or develop effective, strategic brand point-of-sale material.
  • Support POS planning and allocation process
  • Develop channel strategies, channel merchandising standards, KPIs and national brand objectives.
  • Key liaison and communication lead between internal key account team, head office, and SGWS operation team.
  • Provide Southern Glazer Wine & Spirits (SGWS) third party sales execution team direction re: programming / assets.
  • Supports in Risk & Opportunity identification & execution

Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years’ experience in developing and executing to trade marketing strategy in a consumer goods environment, preferably in a company recognized for its successful product leadership and execution of CM marketing programs. Equivalent/combined experience in Brand Marketing will be considered.
  • Direct involvement in the strategic, as well as tactical aspects of Marketing, with experience successfully partnering with Sales and Marketing in development and execution of annual plans.
  • Proven track record of creating compelling and successful BLT activations tailored to customers as well as internal Commercial & Marketing stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of partnering with customers related to collaborative planning.
  • Proven Insights experience related to: Trade/Customer Marketing (CM) Below the Line (BLT) activation within a packaged goods consumer product environment. i.e Experience leveraging insights to support strategic consumer or customer decisions and opportunities.
  • Brand management experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work and thrive cross- functionally with marketing and sales team.
  • Experience dealing regularly with a remote head office and as part of a team – with regionally based experience/responsibilities.
  • Tactical responsibility for POS planning, allocations, creative approvals.
  • Proven Project Management skills where customer deadlines are front and center.
  • Aptitude to think creatively and strategically, and translate strategy into operational tactics. An independent mindset, valuing collaborative decision making, capable of championing ideas with confidence.
  • Ability to lead, influence and motivate others at all levels.
  • Good verbal, written and presentation skills including excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • Highly skilled in complex negotiations, influencing, conflict resolution.
  • Proven P&L/analytical diagnostics capability.
  • Knowledge of the beverage alcohol industry and experience in the industry an asset.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Marketing as a major is preferred.
  • Business travel required
