Essential Duties
Prepares straightforward or recurring accounting schedules, statements or reports for management or outside agencies to reflect financial situation; assists higher level accountants in more complex or specialized assignments.
Arranges different types of data into a variety of formats (i.e., charts, graphs, and tables) for management comparison purposes.
Reviews reports, fund or account statements and bank statements; investigates irregularities and reports to supervisor; makes adjustments and necessary journal entries.
Records revenues, disbursements, expenses or other transactions by posting to records or ledgers; takes trial balances and prepares simple analyses and/or reports.
Analyzes transactions and documents procedures to ensure compliance with accounting principles and university regulations.
Analyzes accounting data and makes general interpretations and recommendations.
Reviews computer reports and investigates and reports or corrects inconsistencies and errors.
Trains and monitors or reviews work of clerical accounting staff.
Keeps informed by researching and evaluating appropriate professional and related legal
literature as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field; OR, Four (4) years professional accounting experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications
Evidence of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
Demonstrated knowledge of accounting practices, procedures and generally accepted accounting principles.
Experience in performing detailed numerical computations.
Experience in preparing detailed reports.
Evidence of effective verbal and written communication skills.
Experience in the use of computer hardware and software.
Working Environment
Work in an office setting and use office equipment (i.e. computers, printers, copiers, calculators, telephones)
Sit or stand for extended periods of time, and travel moderate distances to perform work
Communicate orally and in writing to perform essential duties
Read-interpret written and oral instructions/directions
Lift items weighing up to 25 lbs.
