Staff Accountant At AES Drilling Fluids

Location: West Houston

The Staff Accountant reports to the Assistant and US Controller and under their supervision, assists with a diverse array of accounting responsibilities. The accounting environment consists of high volume transaction processing as well as complex and technical accounting issues. Responsibilities include reconciling balance sheets accounts, recording journal entries and month-end accruals, running reports from internal systems, and other month-end close duties. This position requires constant collaboration with team members and other departments within the Company as well as a high attention to detail. The position requires a highly motivated individual with strong attention to detail who is interested in constant learning in this role and advancing their career within AES Drilling Fluids.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepares monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and journal entries for assigned balance sheet accounts; including but not limited to cash, fixed assets, prepaid assets/expenses, accrued liabilities, and other assigned accounts.
• Assists in month-end closing procedures including journal entries and accruals.
• Researches accounting discrepancies involving payables, fixed assets, and general ledger accounts.
• Assists with monthly sales and use tax filings and other state tax filing requirements.
• Gathers documentation and prepares schedules for internal and external audits.
• Works on various ad hoc projects with Senior Accountant, Accounting Supervisor, Assistant Controller, and US Controller.
• Assists with various reporting requests from US Controller and/or Corporate Finance Group, including forecasting.
• Collaborates with accounting team members to support team objectives.
• Assists with various projects and reporting as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (or related degree).
• One (1) - three (3) years of accounting-related experience; prior work experience within the oil and gas and/or manufacturing industry would be highly advantageous.
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (including strong Microsoft Excel skills), Outlook, internet research and accounting software-related applications.
• Previous experience with ERP software; experience with Dynamics AX or similar is preferred.
