Accounting Intern

Location: 20 E. Thomas Road

Phoenix, AZ 85012

Timeline: 10 Weeks Beginning June 1st, 2020 – August 7th, 2020

We are looking for a driven and motivated Accounting Intern to join our Corporate Accounting department. You will participate in a paid program designed to provide you with real-world experience and prepare you for an exciting role in a corporate environment. This role is located in Phoenix, AZ.

This internship will help you acquire marketable accounting skills by providing an opportunity to apply your academic accounting knowledge to real world scenarios. You will contribute to and gain an understanding of the monthly financial close and reporting process, preparation of audit deliverables, account reconciliations and other special projects. Ultimately, you will gain broad experience in Accounting and should be prepared to enter any fast-paced work environment.

Accounting Internship Responsibilities:

• Preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations
• Contribute to the month end close process, including report preparation, variance research and analysis
• Support the external financial statement audit through preparation of audit deliverables
• Project work in support of key Accounting strategic initiatives
• Maintain controls around financial reporting
• Develop and maintain excellent relationships with colleagues within the Accounting team and across other business units
• Prepare Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents
• Regular and consistent attendance at our office location

In order to be a successful intern, you will need to possess the following background/experience:

• Majoring in accounting, with strong desire to work in accounting field post-graduation
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Emphasis on strong skills in Excel and proficiency in other MS Office products (MS Word, PowerPoint)
• Team player with customer service mentality
• High attention to detail
• Self-motivation
• Analytical mindset

Targeted Majors: Accounting

Minimum Requirements:

• Current students with at least 3 years of undergraduate degree completed with an Accounting major
• Demonstrated academic success (minimum 3.25 GPA)

Preferred Requirement:

• Prior work experience, co-op or internship
• Career interest in accounting related to financial services
